pharmacy prescriptions

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

The Express Scripts program basically fills consumer pharmacy prescriptions through mail order and retail outlets. Until recently, Walgreens stores were included in the program’s retail outlets.  Basically, Express Scripts has determined that Walgreens will no longer be included in its network.  Not surprisingly, this unilateral decision has had a deleterious impact on both Walgreens and Express Scripts customers who utilize Walgreens to fulfill their prescriptions.  In particular, it has severely impacted millions of military personnel who are involved in the Tricare network.  This has left many customers feeling both helpless and outraged that Express Scripts would seek to exclude Walgreens given its large number of stores and convenience that it represents to pharmacy users.  As Express Scripts has determined that it will no longer permit Walgreens to service Tricare prescriptions, many military personnel, who are the primary users of the Tricare network, will be forced to travel to unfamiliar and distant pharmacies in order to get their prescriptions filled or to utilize a mail-order service.  Not surprisingly, there has been a very substantial public outcry and even a petition bearing over 250,000 consumer signatures demanding access to Walgreens pharmacies under the Tricare program.  Throughout the dispute, Walgreens has sought to minimize the disruption to customers.  In fact, the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens, which is an annual special savings plan, has been offered to consumers at a reduced price in an effort to show solidarity with the many consumers who seek to continue to get their prescriptions filled through Walgreens.  Hopefully, the dispute between the companies will be resolved soon.  If you or someone you know has been affected by the Express Scripts decision to stop using Walgreens, please contact your local newspaper or broadcast news outlet to voice your concerns.  If you want to support the Tricare customers and Walgreens, please consider following Walgreens on Twitter and liking Walgreens on Facebook.
